Understanding Paint Correction

Paint Correction is Permanent Repair or Restoration of damaged clear-coated paintwork. It involves removing defects in the top paint layer by DA machine polish to produce a more desired look or finish. Defects include swirl marks, hard water marks, etching, scratches and fading. Paint correction uses different grades of cleanser, polish, or compound.

PAINT CORRECTION OPTIONS

Level 1


Single-stage polish by DA machine polisher. After a multi-step decontamination wash, SD uses a dual action machine polisher and a light cut minor surface scratch removal product to correct the paint. SD then protects the surface using a carnauba or paint sealant of the customer’s choice. 

3-5 Hours

Level 2


Removes light scratches, swirls, holograms, and oxidation. This enhancement is performed in 2 stages. A moderate strength product is used to repair and slightly correct the surface. Then light cut/swirl remover product is used to refine the surface to an outstanding glossy appearance.  

6-9 Hours

Level 3


Multiple stages removing most heavy swirls, marring from improper car washing, surface scratches, oxidation, and hard water stains. SD applies a cut compound and a medium polish. Another medium polish pass rejuvenates the surface and prepares it for the final polish. The length of the final polish depends on paint condition.

10-14 Hours

Level 4


Multiple-Stage Paint Correction plus complete RIDS removal, creating a 100% scratch-free surface. The Full Paint Correction is the ultimate solution for an absolutely flawless finish and is SD’s most restorative detail. Designed for the most discerning client and vehicles with very neglected and damaged paint work.
